Ramayana Simplified – Part 7
This is the seventh book among the Ramayana series written by this author. It covers the Uttara Kanda section. Besides summarizing Ramayana in simple language, the author has also provided a lot of his observations.
Uttara Kanda is the final section of Ramayana. Not all Ramayana editions cover this section. It is not easy to find this section written in English.
There has always been a debate if it is part of the original Ramayana or not. The author gives his own perspective and opinion on this topic in this book.
The birth of Ravana and the origin of Rakshasas, the entire life history of Ravana, the history of Hanuman, the story of a few forefathers of Rama and a lot other exciting and lesser-known tales are found in this book. The exile of Sita and her Agni Pravesh are discussed in detail.
Additionally, this book contains a detailed glossary for Sanskrit and Puranic terms, a very good introduction which would make even a foreigner understand the basics of Hindu epics and Puranas, secondary tales of the epic, the role of animals and birds in Ramayana, and the sites where Ramayana took place.
This book provides the details of hundreds of primary and secondary characters. It also classifies the characters of secondary tales.
The lineage of Rama, Sita, Ravana, Vishwamitra and Jatayu are detailed out clearly.
The list of all encounters of main characters of the epic such as Rama, Lakshmana, Hanuman, Vali, Sugreeva and Angada is unique, which cannot be found in other editions of Ramayana.
Prominent Vanaras and Prominent Rakshasas are two additional sections in this book, which are unique.
The author has identified and meticulously listed down all the characters who share the same names. There are about 40+ such characters.
