“Dear Friends of Queen Mary’s College, inspiring women of today and leaders of tomorrow” – these were my words that kicked off an unforgettable day at Queen Mary’s College.
It was truly an honor to receive an invitation from this historic institution, the First Women’s College of Madras. I was the Guest of Honour for Madras Day Celebrations conducted by Department of Geography and Tourism.
My one-hour session on Women Empowerment, Patriotism, and the History of Madras was met with enthusiasm and warmth from the students. The NCC cadets welcomed me with a guard of honor, and I had the privilege of distributing certificates to the students. The standing ovation at the end left me deeply humbled. Being part of this 110-year-old legacy is something I will cherish forever. Thank you, Queen Mary’s College, for the respect and love you’ve shown me!

Honoured to be invited as the Chief Guest at the prestigious D.A.V. School, Gill Nagar, Chennai, where I inaugurated the Social Club, distributed certificates, and delivered a talk on history to over 500 students from Grades 6 to 12.
I began by reflecting on what DAV stands for — Dayanand Anglo Vedic — and how its roots in Arya Samaj reflect a spirit of questioning, clarity, and truth. That very spirit, I told the students, is what defines history for me: learning from the past, questioning it, and applying it to the present.
The session was lively and interactive. The students responded with energy — asking questions, sharing their thoughts, and keeping the conversation flowing. Their curiosity and engagement were heartening; and the long applause at the end was truly humbling.
Grateful to the school for the warm welcome and the opportunity to engage with such bright young minds.

It was a pleasure to share the stage with Shri Shailesh Davey, CEO of Zoho Corp, a visionary leader whose values-first approach continues to inspire countless professionals and entrepreneurs.
Grateful to the DGK Samaj for preserving heritage while nurturing future talent. The energy and talent of the young performers were simply heartwarming!

History beckoned. I simply answered.
I recently had the opportunity to speak at the Rotary Club of Ambattur on “Gems Hidden in the History of Madras.”
Chartered in 1980, the Rotary Club of Ambattur has served the community for nearly 46 years. Speaking before the members of such a long standing institution made the evening even more meaningful.
This was not intended to be a conventional history lecture filled with dates, names and events. It was an interactive conversation about the Madras we pass through every day, yet often fail to notice.
History is rarely hidden because someone deliberately concealed it. More often, it becomes hidden because we stop observing.
That is what I enjoy most about speaking on heritage. Not merely presenting what happened in the past, but encouraging people to look differently at the city around them.
The questions, observations and conversations from the members made the session especially engaging.

Hoisting the National Flag takes only a few moments. The freedom it represents was earned over generations.
I was honoured to hoist the National Flag at Crossway Springs, a rare green neighbourhood in Chennai, on the occasion of India’s 80th Independence Day.
I also had the opportunity to speak about a lesser-known incident from the freedom struggle in Madras, one that reflected extraordinary courage in the face of colonial authority.
India’s freedom movement was not shaped only by the major events we commonly remember. It was also built through countless acts of courage in cities, towns and streets across the country. Many of those stories still remain outside our collective memory.
It was a meaningful morning; an opportunity to honour the nation, remember the courage behind our freedom and bring one lesser-known chapter of Madras history back into conversation.
My sincere thanks to the residents of Crossway Springs for the invitation and the warm reception.
